Calgary Flames look to undersized players for some 'heavy lifting'

There was a time in the National Hockey League that being a smaller player was an obstacle to playing at the highest levels but the Calgary Flames have turned that notion upside down. The team was led in scoring by left-winger Johnny Gaudreau, who stands 5-8 and weighs 150 pounds. He ended up with 99 points this season. Centre Derek Ryan had a breakout season for the Flames with 13 goals and 25 assists, and is only slightly taller at 5-10. Head coach Bill Peters says the game has changed and he is looking at some of his smaller players to do a lot of the heavy lifting.
