Huawei Canada executive defends company after announcing new internet partnership for Canadian Far North

Alykhan Velshi, the vice president of corporate affairs for the Canadian arm of Chinese telecom giant, Huawei, defends his company’s reputation as it announces a partnership with a northern telecom company and an Inuit development corporation to extend high-speed 4G cellular service to 70 communities in the Arctic and northern Quebec. Huawei is at the centre of a diplomatic controversy between the Canadian and Chinese governments after its chief financial officer Meng Wanzhou was arrested in Vancouver in December on an extradition warrant from the United States, which wants her on fraud charges.
