Bubble-blowing beaver found at beach puzzles parks officials

Parks officials in Harkers Island, North Carolina, were mystified on Thursday, May 2, after they discovered a beaver “on a beach vacation” blowing bubbles in the seawater. Footage posted to the Cape Lookout National Seashore Facebook page shows the beaver bathing. “Can someone who is familiar with beavers (they are not common in salt water) explain why it is blowing bubbles in the water?” Cape Lookout National Seashore asked on Facebook. Speaking to the Charlotte Observer, Jodie Owen, a spokeswoman for the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, said the beaver was either sick or disorientated. The disorientation could have been caused by a storm washing the beaver from the mainland to the sea, Owen said. Credit: Cape Lookout National Seashore via Storyful
