Car passenger films spectacular aurora display in Iceland

Green aurora-lit skies were captured in Iceland last week from the passenger window of a moving car. Last Thursday (February 7) the active northern lights were spotted from highway 41 between Reykjavik and Keflavik. The aurora lights were bright enough to be spotted despite being seen from a well-lit road. The northern lights are caused by collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the Earth's atmosphere.
