How To Turn a Cardboard Box into a Garden Planter

If you're looking for a project to dowith your kids, teach them how to turncardboard boxes into garden planters. Choose a sturdy, corrugated boxwith the width and depth neededfor what you want to plant. Turn the box over and reinforce thebottom with strips of duct tape appliedacross the seam where the flaps meet. Poke several holes, spaced about4 inches apart, in the bottom ofthe box for drainage. Set the box in the spot whereyou want to grow the plantsbefore adding the potting soil. Fill the box with lightweight pottingsoil to within 1 to 2 inches of the top. Plant seeds or seedlings inthe box and follow the wateringguidelines for your plant. If the box starts to break down, try to slip it into a new, largerbox for extra protection.
