Suspected Chinese surveillance balloon flying over U.S., won’t be shot down: Pentagon

A senior defence official said the U.S. has “very high confidence” that it is a Chinese high-altitude balloon, flying over sensitive sites to collect information, but the Pentagon has advised against shooting the balloon down due to concerns about debris posing a risk to people on the ground.
