A car servicing website has revealed it’s noticed a rise in drivers requesting quotes for exotic supercars as they attempt to save money by avoiding pricey main dealer labour.

Servicing Stop provides car owners with instant quotes and will collect their car from their driveway and return it after a service. The website says it has many wealthy customers which, despite willing to spend hundreds and thousands of pounds on a new car, are reluctant to spend more than a few hundred pounds on servicing.

It says a service for the Ferrari F12 Berlinetta at a main dealer could cost £4,000 once the warranty period is over but owners could save more than £3,600 by shopping around. Similarly, a main dealer service for a Rolls-Royce Ghost could cost £4,500 – while independent garages would be willing to do it for less than £150.

“We founded Servicing Stop eight years ago to make car servicing convenient, affordable and trustworthy,” says the website’s CEO Oly Richmond. “Having a car serviced or repaired can take time and money. Often, it’s an extremely stressful process. In order to remove all of the above from the equation we created our unique business model. Saying that, we never expected to see such flashy cars being booked in for their services.

“It’s great to see that our reputation precedes us and we have so many people, even those who own the most expensive models, opting to use us as a convenient, trustworthy and affordable service provider.”

European Block Exemption rules dictate that car manufacturers can’t insist you use main dealers to service your car – even if it’s still under warranty. Make sure that any independent garage follows manufacturer guidelines and uses approved parts, however.

Servicing Stop has revealed a list of the most expensive cars to use its service over the last year.
