US pop superstar Ariana Grande has told fans she has “been through hell and back,” weeks after the death of her ex-boyfriend Mac Miller.

Grande, 25, opened up to a fan on Instagram after they criticised what they believed to be her new music video for single Breathin’.

The video, which shows footage of her pet pig Piggy Smallz, dropped on Wednesday and left fans confused.

One dissatisfied fan wrote: “This era is a joke and lazy.”

Grande replied assuring them the official video was on the way and that she simply wanted fans to “laugh”.

She wrote: “This era is beautiful to me but idk. Been thru hell and back and I’m doing my best to keep going. Thought this would make you laugh while you wait for the real one because I took a break to take care of myself for a lil while. My B (sic).”

Grande went on to block the user, who said they love the singer, but not her new album.

Explaining their comment, they wrote: “Hi to all of the Ari fans that came to hate on me. I honestly didn’t even think she’d see my comment nor reply. I honestly don’t like sweetener that much (except a couple songs) and that’s just my opinion.

“Maybe I should have said it a little nicer or not at all but I can’t take it back. She blocked me which is understandable considering how many people she’s blocked recently and I think I deserve it.

“I don’t hate her and I’ll never hate her. I just dislike this era/album. I’m sorry if I hurt any of her fans. You can hate on me all you want I don’t care. I’ll laugh with you.”

Grande, who is engaged to SNL star Pete Davidson, recently told fans she was having a “tough” month as she asked for “one okay day”.

A representative said she is taking some “much needed time to heal and mend” after Miller’s death last month and the Manchester Arena terror attack which saw a suicide bomber murder 22 people at her concert in May 2017.
