Did Louise Redknapp’s friendship with Strictly pal Daisy Lowe hurt her relationship with Jamie Redknapp?

When Louise Redknapp signed up for Strictly Come Dancing last year, she insisted the BBC dancing show wouldn't damage her 19-year marriage to husband Jamie Redknapp.

But it now appears that the 'Strictly curse' may have indeed affected the couple as split rumours continue to rumble on.

It’s been claimed former footballer Jamie partly blames her involvement in Strictly - and also getting close to her Strictly co-stars - for their marriage breakdown.

Referring in particular to her friendship with Strictly pal Daisy Lowe , a source reportedly told The Sun : “Louise had become very close to her new friends from Strictly – they formed a real bond.

"That became even stronger on the tour where Louise became inseparable from Daisy. Louise ended up spending a lot more time away from home with Daisy and rediscovering her youth. "

The source continued: "That was when Jamie first started confiding in very close friends that his marriage was in trouble."

On Thursday, the former Eternal star was seen looking glum at the airport after a sunshine break in Majorca with their two sons Charley, 12, and Beau, nine.

Jamie, meanwhile, stayed at home because he was filming Sky One panel show A League of their Own.

He cancelled a round of interviews to promote the show earlier in the week so he would not have to field questions about his marriage.

Back in April, Louise admitted that she had always been known as “Jamie Redknapp’s wife”.

Appearing on John Bishop’s chat show, she said: “I was Jamie Redknapp’s wife for ten years. That’s what I was known as. I don’t mean that in a negative way, it’s obviously amazing but there’s a part of me that secretly enjoys just being Louise.”

A source close to Louise insist her and Jamie are “working through” their marriage issues.

But it comes amid claims the pair have both told friends the marriage is over, as well as the fact they have been living separately.

A source said: “Louise and Jamie are expected to meet up an discuss their future. Their priority, as always, are their two children.”

The marriage claims come just a month after Louise quashed earlier rumours that they were on the rocks, insisting the couple are “great”.

Addressing the speculation, she said the pair were in bed together when reports emerged claiming their marriage was in trouble.

“It was surreal,” she said. “Me and Jamie had just been out for dinner at Zuma, and were in bed together when we saw on Sky that our marriage was in trouble.

“We’re great - don’t worry about us, everything’s fine.”

The pair, who wed in 1998, have regularly been hailed as one of showbiz’s strongest marriages.

They met through mutual pal Robbie Williams when Louise was on tour with her band Eternal, who were supporting Take That.

“He was a young, good-looking footballer. I wasn’t stupid and that’s most probably why I didn’t go out with him for so long,” said Louise.

The cracks were said to have started after her stint on Strictly Come Dancing with the gruelling training regime meaning they spent lots of time apart.

Jamie’s job as a panelist, as well as his football punditry job regularly saw him stay away from the family home.

Their marriage is set to be under more pressure too as Louise is to undertake a UK-wide tour of Cabaret playing Sally Bowles, a role made famous by Liza Minnelli.

Mirror Celebs has contacted representatives for Louise, Jamie and Daisy for comment.
