Glee actor Mark Salling faces up to seven years in prison after pleading guilty to child porn offences.

The 35-year-old admitted to being in possession of images showing children being sexually abused after thousands of pictures were discovered on his laptop.

Salling, who played footballer Puck on the US teen show, now faces between four and seven years in prison and will have to pay around $50,000 (£38,000) to each victim.

He was arrested in California in 2015 after police were tipped off that he was in possession of child porn.

Investigators then discovered around 50,000 “sexually charged” images, some depicting children as young as 10.

In May 2016, he was charged with two counts of receiving and possessing images of child sexual abuse – offences that could have led to up to 20 years in prison.

But documents reported by US media revealed he entered into a plea deal which meant his sentence would be shortened.

As part of the deal, he will reportedly have to register as a sex offender and must have no communication with anyone under the age of 18 without being accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

LAPD commander Andrea Grossman said: "It doesn't matter who you are or what you do, if you hurt a child you will be held accountable.

"These images are more than photographs, they are child abuse."

In March he reached a settlement of $2.7m (£2.04m) with a woman who sued him for sexual battery.

She claimed Salling made her have unprotected sex with him and then he pushed her to the ground when she confronted over it.
