Hugh Grant returned to his old college bar at Oxford University - and marked the occasion by downing a drink out of a shoe.

The actor, 56, visited New College to give a speech about press ethics before joining the New College Rugby Club for drinks.

Clearly wanting to prove that he’s still got it, Grant took up the challenge of drinking from a shoe.

A video doing the rounds on social media shows the Love Actually star knocking back the drink as a group of students chant: “I’ve never seen Hugh Grant do a shoe.”

Another video showed Grant taking on a student in a drinking race by downing two bottles at the same time.

Other students took advantage of photo opportunities and posed for selfies with the star.

One New College student described Grant as a “pretty decent bloke” who “bought everyone a pint in the bar”.

Speaking to the student paper, Cherwell he said: “It was pretty f****** incredible. I found myself doing everything I resent in that kind of drinking culture: downing pints, being rowdy and watching Hugh Grant spill ale from his £200 loafers down his neck whilst doing a shoe.”

He continued: “He was actually a pretty decent bloke—very well eloquent, very well mannered and witty, and looked people in the eye when he spoke with them, actually engaging with them.

“He bought everyone a pint in the bar—which obviously went down well.”

Grant won the Galsworthy scholarship to read English Literature at New College, and graduated with a 2.1 honours.

He starred in his first film, Privileged, produced by the Oxford University Film Foundation, while studying at the prestigious university.
