There are probably worse Valentine's Day gifts you can get your other half than having Tom Hardy read them a bedtime story.

CBeebies has released a clip of his very welcome return to the channel, this time around to read Tom McLaughlin's The Cloudspotter, and of course he's accompanied by his beloved pet dog Woodstock.

The Taboo and Peaky Blinders star made his debut as a storyteller on the children's channel on New Year's Day, taking to the sofa to read You Must Bring a Hat by Simon Philip and Kate Hindley.

If you happened to miss it, watch the adorable video below:

It's certainly a marked change from Tom's current role in his BBC period drama Taboo, which he stars in and co-created with his father Chips.

Before it kicked off last month, he told us that he wasn't expecting to win over all viewers. "People might not like this - so accept that, and push that," Tom explained.

"People will either like it or hate it, but it won't be middle of the road. Either it's going to go well, or it's going to go really f**king badly. But it was an effort made in the right pursuit, I believe."

There are only two episodes left of the eight-part drama, but the BBC has announced that Taboo will be brought out in boxset format on iPlayer after its final episode airs on February 25.

From then, you'll have 30 days to get your fill of Tom being all dark, brooding and menacing.

And just to be warned, you might need to go back to his Bedtime Story to recover.
