Vicky Pattison is engaged to her long-term boyfriend John Noble after accepting a surprise proposal from him - and she couldn't be happier.

The ex-Geordie Shore star burst into tears when John pulled out a 3.6-carat diamond ring while the couple were out walking his dog, having panicked her just days before with his "out of character" behaviour.

Revealing the whole proposal story, Vicky explained to OK! magazine how it came about.

"I was hoping he would come to see me [in Essex] but he kept saying he had too much on," she recalled.

"It was so out of character for him that I started panicking, thinking he was going to finish things with me. I was crying to all my friends all the time and arguing with him on the phone because I was so sure he didn't want to be with me anymore."

But John actually had the huge surprise up his sleeve the whole time.

"I was spending a few days at John's house, which is just outside Newcastle and surrounded by lovely countryside," Vicky said.

"One morning he suggested we take his dog Roxie out for a walk. After a while we stopped for a sit down on a bench overlooking some lovely scenery. I was playing with Roxie when she shook her head and got slobber all over my face.

"When I wiped it away, John was in front of me on one knee! I couldn't believe it, I burst into tears. I said yes and then I looked at the ring and I was blown away, it was amazing."

It came just after Vicky pared down her busy work schedule to see more of John by dropping her Loose Women commitments.

The former Geordie Shore star, 29, joined the ITV1 lunchtime show last year following her success on I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! but stepped down after nine months.

Appearing on ITV's Lorraine in late June, the TV star said she wanted to thank everyone at Loose Women for giving her the opportunity to join the team and she'd love to go back when she's older.

"I can't thank the Loose Women team and everyone at ITV enough for giving me such an amazing opportunity," said Vicky.

"But I think, for me, I tried to run before I could walk. I think maybe certain things were discussed and debates we'd have and I'd be desperate to get involved but feel like I didn't really have an opinion on them.

"Things like marriage and kids, and at the time I couldn't even get a lad to text me back. I was like, 'I'm out. Nothing in my locker.'"

"I would love to go back," she added.

Lorraine said it was "really brave" of Vicky to step down from Loose Women after realising it wasn't for her just yet, adding: "I think it's a great decision that you made."

Vicky certainly has plenty to keep her occupied including a brand new novel, My Sister's Wedding, and a new TV show she's working on about body transformations.

"I'm really passionate about health and fitness and nutrition and the rest of it," said Vicky.

"This is the year I've discovered balance in loads of different parts of my life and I'd love to impart some of that wisdom so I'm actually working on a new show based on health and fitness and nutrition, helping people with body transformations.

"This is the direction for me."

And everything in her personal life is going brilliantly as well, with Vicky confirming she's as loved up as always with boyfriend John Noble.

"He's lovely," she gushed. "For years I've sort of struggled with my personal life and finding someone who was supportive of my career and is essentially successful in their own right as well.

"I finally have that with John. He's lovely and caring and strong.

"I finally have a man, not a fan."
