Long before he surprised pretty much everybody by moving to the White House, Trump was already cropping up in unexpected places, as his cameo appearance in Home Alone 2 shows.

And his on-screen accolades don't end there. The Donald also crops up in Sex and the City, Zoolander, The Associate and Two Weeks Notice, among other films not quite as memorable.

So, what exactly is he doing there? In a recent interview, Matt Damon explained all.

"The deal was that if you wanted to shoot in one of his buildings, you had to write him in a part," Damon said in the interview, published on Friday.

[Director] Martin Brest had to write something in 'Scent of a Woman' - and the whole crew was in on it," Damon claimed. "You have to waste an hour of your day with a bulls**t shot: Donald Trump walks in and Al Pacino's like, 'Hello, Mr. Trump!' - you had to call him by name - and then he exits."

"You waste a little time so that you can get the permit, and then you can cut the scene out," Damon explained. "But I guess in 'Home Alone 2' they left it in."
