REUTERS/Andrew Kelly Dexter Fletcher has revealed that his Elton John biopic Rocketman nearly had an in-universe crossover with the other major music film of the year, Bohemian Rhapsody.

Fletcher, who completed the Queen film after Bryan Singer was fired, told Gay Star News about “an idea I had at one point, where Elton’s in a restaurant with his mother.

“I thought John Reid and Freddie could be at another table and they [could] wave at each other!” Reid was manager to both John and Mercury.

But despite conceding that it “would have been amazing”, Fletcher thought the moment “would’ve been a little too knowing”.
