The talented Bocelli family already includes one international superstar, but there are two more waiting in the wings. Best-selling tenor Andrea has been a major star since 1995's Con Te Partirò with Sarah Brightman topped charts and crossed over into pop music. Nine-year-old daughter Virginia hit headlines last December when she duetted with her father on the Leonard Cohen classic Halleluyah. Now his handsome younger son, Matteo, is poised to become a solo star in his own right, too.

So far, audiences know the 23-year old for his beautiful duet with his father, Fall On Me.

The soaring ballad soundtracked the rather underwhelming Disney film, The Nutcracker and the Four Realms, but firmly established Matteo as a fast-rising star.

Previously known mainly for his famous father and chiselled good looks, the Italian heartthrob stunned music lovers with his impressive voice.

Fall On Me was released in 2018 and early in the following year, Matteo performed the song at the Sanremo Music Festival.

This was the place where Andrea made his own debut in 1994, scoring the highest marks ever recorded in the newcomers' section.

At the same time, Matteo began to talk about plans for a solo album. Through the past two years, he has posted teaser images of himself in the recording studio.

In October last year, he tagged two classic images in a recording studio.

First he wrote: "When you have the chance to spend some time in an amazing studio with some incredibly talented songwriters from all over the world you can only say... grazie."

He followed that with: "Sessions, sessions, and more sessions to make a #newrecord."

By now, Matteo has got the fine art of teasing down to a tee. Back in January he posted an enigmatic shot of himself in the recording studio with the simple tagline: "Can't wait."

On February 6, he paid tribute to his and his father's own journeys: "It's been two years since my debut at the most important music festival in Italy. I'll never forget the incredible feeling of walking on to the stage for the first time.

"That moment marked the beginning of an intense creative journey - I can't wait to share my music with you soon."

With confirmation the new music was coming "soon", he ramped up the tension with another message last night.

Matteo posted a shot of himself looking relaxed and happy in a hooded sweatshirt and beanie, grinning in a recording studio.

This time he promised: "Today in studio recording a special surprise #neverstopexploring".

There is still no release date or title for Matteo's upcoming solo album, but all the signs point to at least a preview single coming any day now. And everyone (including Matteo) is hoping for one superstar collaboration in particular.

It all came about thanks to Matteo's own love for the singer and he still harbours hope he can also

Matteo said: "I have many favourite singers. But, of course, I've always been attracted by the voice of Ed Sheeran. I've followed him since the very beginning of his career. One day it would be amazing to do [a collaboration with him].

"I had the chance to meet him and he's a fantastic person. So humble...that's another thing that really impressed me. So who knows? I hope in the future!"
