Morrissey ended a concert after just six songs on Monday night (10Apr17) after complaining about vocal issues.

The 57-year-old rocker was performing at the Fox Tucson Theatre in Tucson, Arizona, on Monday, and belted out his hit Everyday Is Like Sunday before telling the crowd he was struggling to continue.

“It seems I have left half my mouth in Guadalajara,” he said, referring to the Mexican city he performed in on 1 April (17). "But I will stand here and I will sing, and, if necessary, I will drop dead," he said before walking off the stage, according to the Arizona Daily Star.

When Morrissey didn't return, keyboard player Gustavo Manzur explained to the crowd, "His voice is shot. You heard it, you heard it. He’s been trying, trying really hard. He came out, he tried. His voice is really shot. We’re sorry. He’s sorry. You know he tried."

Gustavo also took to Facebook after the abrupt end to the concert to further explain the situation, writing, "He sends his love and apologies. He is SO embarrassed. He has expressed this since we stepped off stage. I've hugged him and his voice has been reduced to a whisper. My heart is broken but if this is the worst, thank the Lord. We'll take care of him.

"He tried...he would have NEVER come out if didn't think he could have. He tried. His voice is gone. But he's not. Just a bit of rest for his voice. Please understand. He is human."

Fox Tucson Theatre Executive Director Craig Sumberg said on Tuesday (11Apr17) said that the venue was in negotiations with Morrissey's management about either rescheduling the show or giving refunds on tickets. However, there was also apparently an agreement in place between the promoters and Morrissey's team that Monday's gig was not a "formal show".

Morrissey's upcoming gig at the Tobin Center in San Antonio, Texas, is still scheduled to go ahead on Wednesday night (12Apr17).
