One Direction's Louis Tomlinson has hit back at parents who complained about the lyrics to Live While We're Young.

The 22-year-old singer couldn't resist sending a jokey retort to Mary and Michael Stone, who took their two teenage children out from a choir showcase in the US, claiming that the song contained sexual references.

Louis tweeted: "Dear Mr and Mrs Stone, I'm deeply saddened by your complaint to Chelsea High School regarding our lyrics...

"I hope the two of you 'get some' very soon :) #cryingparents," he added.

His response was retweeted more than 50,000 times within three hours.

The Stones tried to get the song banned and sent a letter to the Chelsea School District in Michigan, alleging that the song's lyrics "violated the district's policy for sexual innuendos".

They claimed that the line, "Tonight let's get some, and live while we're young" was sexually explicit, while " Don't let the pictures leave your phone" referred to sexting, and tried to get those lyrics changed, but Chelsea High School Show Choir Company C's performance went ahead with the One Direction track.

Louis, who recently made his debut football appearance for Doncaster Rovers, is reportedly one of the group's top earners along with Liam Payne for their songwriting credits.

The pair, who have written half of the songs on their latest album Midnight Memories, have already started working on the band's fourth album.

Liam told The Sun: "Louis and I have a little partnership going on. We've been pretty keen to start writing straight away. I've been in the studio already, it's been going really well. Learning how to write is the best way of ensuring your career has longevity and that you have control over it."
