Brad Pitt has received his second Producers Guild of America award nominations for 12 Years A Slave.

The Hollywood star, who was nominated in 2012 for Moneyball, was recognised along with director Steve McQueen, Anthony Katagas, Jeremy Kleiner, and Dede Gardner.

Though The Wolf Of Wall Street secured a nomination, the PGA did not name director Martin Scorsese or star Leonardo DiCaprio among the producers nominated for the honour, only citing fellow producers on the film Riza Aziz, Emma Koskoff and Joey McFarland.

American Hustle, Blue Jasmine, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her , Nebraska and Saving Mr Banks were the other eight films nominated for The Darryl F Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures.

Megan Ellison had two nods for her work on David O Russell's American Hustle and Spike Jonze's Her.

A number of awards-tipped films that were notable by their absence from this year's nominees included Lee Daniels' The Butler, August: Osage County, Inside Llewyn Davis, All Is Lost and Rush.

The Producers Guild will also present several special honours, including one for James Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G Wilson and another for The Hobbit director Peter Jackson and his senior special effects artist Joe Letteri.

The awards will be presented at the 25th annual PGA Awards, which will take place on January 19 at the Beverly Hilton hotel.
