Bradley Cooper has said if he does get invited to awards season this year, people may not recognise him.

Last year the actor earned a string of nominations for his role in David O Russell's Silver Linings Playbook co-starring Jennifer Lawrence. And the pair both star with Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner and Christian Bale in David's new film American Hustle, which is surrounded by awards buzz.

Bradley is about to start training for Clint Eastwood's new film American Sniper, a true story about the late Navy Seal Chris Kyle, known as the most lethal sniper in American history.

The Hangover star told Deadline: "If you do see me during awards season don't be surprised if I start to gain a lot of weight and my hair turns red. There's nothing wrong with me so don't worry."

The 38-year-old hunk is no stranger to transforming for a role. For American Hustle he spent two-and-a-half hours a day in pink curlers - which he also appears in for one scene in the movie - under an old-style hair dryer, to create his character's bouffant 70s hairdo.

Bradley laughed: "It was crazy. I definitely have more sympathy for those who are in the make-up or hair trailer for a longer time. Usually I get in and out. I was there longer than anybody, which is hard to believe considering how everyone looks in this movie."
