Rihanna has filed a lawsuit against her accountants, claiming she was effectively bankrupt in 2009 despite having two million dollars in the bank.

The Diamonds singer has blamed poor decision making by her accountants for her fortune of 11 million dollars at the beginning of that year dwindling away to just two million, according to the Daily Mirror.

She has claimed Berdon LLP gave her the go-ahead to buy a house that cost somewhere between seven million and 7.5 million dollars which she later sold at a two million dollar loss, that her expenses doubled, and that her 2009 Last Girl On Earth tour was losing money but her accountants didn't tell her.

Berdon LLP have said that Rihanna's financial "action or inaction" was down to her and her team, not them, and dismissed her complaint that she had paid "above-average" commission to them of 22 per cent as something she had signed off herself.

Rihanna is now worth an estimated 43 million dollars.
