Seth Rogen has joked that he had to vet the babies he worked with in new comedy Bad Neighbours as he hit the red carpet for the premiere.

The actor and Rose Byrne star as a couple with a young baby, whose lives are disrupted when a rowdy fraternity led by Zac Efron moves in next door, and it seems Seth didn't find it all that easy to share the screen with an infant.

The Hollywood Reporter quoted Seth as saying: "Babies are not fans of me either, and we made sure they were fine by me before we casted.

"These babies were good, but most I'm not cool with!"

Star Zac was also at the glitzy screening in Los Angeles, where he was snapped alongside co-star and rumoured new love interest Halston Sage.

The actor revealed he drew on people from his real life to get into character as a fraternity president.

"I do know this guy," said the 26-year-old. "He's a version of several of my best friends and different shades. I've been around a guy a lot like this."

Director Nicholas Stoller said his intention had been to make a film "where people can have a party for 90 minutes without feeling hungover the next day".

"And I wanted to make it a tiny bit emotional where you can relate to it whether you just had a baby or you're graduating college," he added.

:: Bad Neighbours opens in cinemas on May 3.
