Pharrell Williams has revealed he would love to make music with his son.

The Happy hit-maker admitted that his five-year-old Rocket has already shown a musical streak.

"Rocket makes his own music. He's just incredible to watch himself," he said, adding: "I have to (work with him) - he's my boy."

The Star Trek fan said he would like to make a cameo in or be involved with the next instalment of the sci-fi series, especially if JJ Abrams is directing it.

"I'd love to but I doubt it. I doubt that Mr Abrams sees me fit for it," he said. "But I'm a huge fan of his and of Star Trek. That'd be awesome. I would love to do a song for that."

Pharrell - who is surprising a fan as part of Pharrell's Priceless Surprise with MasterCard - has enjoyed working on the soundtrack for The Amazing Spider-Man 2, starring Andrew Garfield as the superhero.

"Hans Zimmer and I are scoring Spider-Man. We put a lot into it but we work with a lot of brilliant musicians too - Johnny Marr, Mike (Einziger) from Incubus."

The 40-year-old musician said he has no regrets over his career to date.

"This has been one very interesting college course, hence the term 'university'. We're constantly learning. If you're not learning, you're wasting time," he said. "Your mind and your five senses is constantly recording everything that's happening. that's how you deduce what is fact. Every day is a highlight, because it's been given to me. That's a gift. Every day I wake up and continue to do this, it's even more of a gift."
