Coronation Street's Jennie McAlpine reveals Fiz Brown 'will be replaced' as actress leaves for maternity leave

Coronation Street actress Jennie McAlpine has revealed that her beloved character Fiz Brown will effectively be "replaced" after her shock exit from the cobbles.

The 34-year-old, who is pregnant with her second child, also revealed that things would start to go wrong for Fiz and Tyrone after the arrival of Maureen Lipman's character Evelyn.

Asked how they were hiding her bump, Jennie replied: "We started with a mug and then we went on to a handbag and last week, I'm not kidding, with a Ford Fiesta!"

Questioned on how Fiz would leave the cobbles, Jennie said: "She's very involved with it, our Evelyn. She's not impressed on our family set-up, let's put it that way. She's not impressed with Fiz as a wife-mother, so it doesn't go well for the next few weeks.

Lorraine asked: "She goes but she's coming back?"

She also revealed how her son Albert responded when he found out he would be getting a little brother or sister.
