TV talent shows are supposed to be all about the contestants. Unfortunately, that isn't always the case. In fact, more often than not, it's the celebrity judges that make headlines. And given some of their on-screen antics, it's hardly surprising. The diva panelists on shows like X Factor and American Idol regularly find themselves at the centre of attention after rowing with each other live on TV. But that's not all. Sometimes, they fall out with the celebrity guest performers too – not that we're complaining. This is the kind of drama that makes TV gold!

Here, for our own amusement, we take a look at some of the biggest snubs ever made on small-screen talent shows and wonder how the judges had the guts to do it...

1. Cheryl and Dannii Minogue v Jamiroquai

Cheryl and Danni were fuming with Jamiroquai after he said something VERY rude about them (he said they were clucking useless, or something that sounded a lot like it) before performing on X Factor. So it was a little awkward when the trio came face-to-face live on the show later that day. When he finished his song, all four judges, including Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, refused to give the singer a standing ovation. Awkwardly, Danni and Cheryl wouldn't even clap.

2. Mel B and Cheryl v Michael Buble

Cheryl found herself at the centre of drama again when Michael surprised Idina Menzel for a duet performance of 'Baby, It's Cold Outside' on X Factor. For some reason, Mel was seriously unimpressed with the song and gave the pair a sarcastic slow clap afterwards – and Cheryl followed suit. This particularly stood out as the two judges had given standing ovations to all of the other acts that night. Burn!

3. Mariah Carey v Jennifer Lopez

Mariah has never been secretive about her feelings towards JLo – she can't stand her. And the diva stayed true to her word when Jennifer and Pitbull appeared on American Idol to perform their hit 'Live It Up'. All of the other judges gave the pair a standing ovation afterwards. Mariah, however, ignored the stars on stage and decided to play with some confetti on the judges' table instead. Meow.

4. Len Goodman v Tess Daly

Len sent Twitter into overdrive when he appeared to pick on presenter Tess last year. After Judge Rinder had taken to the dancefloor, the host tried to ask the veteran judge for his feedback. But instead of co-operating, he firstly ignored Tess before going on to mock her, claiming he couldn't understand what she was saying. Eventually, Craig Revel Horwood had to step in and only then did Len decide to tone down his behaviour and get the show back on track.

5. Rita Ora v Olly Murs

Wow, this was awkward, although probably not deliberate. But our hearts went out to poor Olly just the same when Rita declared live on X Factor that Louisa Johnson and Leona Lewis are the only two acts that have ever made an impression on the show. Fans inundated Rita with messages afterwards, accusing her of being rude to Olly. She then felt so bad that she sent him a bunch of texts apologising. Fortunately, despite the snub, we hear it's all water under the bridge now.

6. Mariah v Nicki Minaj

Mariah and Nicki were consistently savage to one another throughout their time on American Idol together. After one particular falling out, Mariah started to pretend that she didn't know who her co-judge was (despite the fact they recorded a single together). The diva even suggested in the clip above that Nicki was a stranger to the number one spot on the American Billboard Hot 100. However, that's not true. The rapper's first two albums both hit the top of the charts. What's with the shade, MC?

7. Simon Cowell v Jules & Matisse

Simon invited Jules & Matisse to return to Britain's Got Talent last year after they won the show in 2015. Unfortunately, the duo's win was overshadowed by a cheating scandal after it emerged that a lookalike pup stepped in for Matisse during one of the tricks. Simon dealt with the news by refusing to give them a standing ovation when they came back to the show as celebrities, and the snub was noticed by everyone tuning in at home. Awks.
