EastEnders star Adam Woodyatt has discussed his plans after I'm a Celebrity's 2021 series.

The Ian Beale actor will be seen entering the castle in tonight's (November 25) episode of the ITV reality show, along with Coronation Street's Simon Gregson, and ahead of his appearance, he spoke with media including Digital Spy.

Woodyatt was asked what's next for him and if he was going back to the Albert Square soap.

He responded by pointing to Looking Good Dead, the stage play he's been starring in opposite Gaynor Faye, confirming he'll be doing it until April as expected.

"I'm still on tour with Looking Good Dead, a production of Peter James' Roy Grace book," he said. "I literally come out of the castle whenever that is, and I've got Christmas off.

"And then we're back into rehearsals, because Laurie Brett is taking over from Gaynor Faye. And then we're doing that until the end of April."

Woodyatt said seeing former EastEnders co-star Brett (who played Jane Beale) again has been "fun", although added he will miss Faye.

"We've done some rehearsals," he said. "It's been fun working with and seeing her again. But it is kind of bittersweet because as much as I'm looking forward to Laurie coming in, I'm going to miss Gaynor because she's been an absolute joy to work with. It's been wonderful."

Touching on EastEnders briefly, the star added that sometimes viewers at home can "forget Ian is a character on a TV programme", and that I'm a Celebrity will be something "different".

"[Ian Beale's] just a job," he explained. "This [doing I'm a Celebrity] is actually me and a bit like when I was on Celebrity MasterChef. It's a different thing. A different genre. It's not about proving anything or showing anything.

"It's just me going out there and I want to have some fun."

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! airs on ITV.
