Jeremy Kyle isn't leaving Good Morning Britain at the end of the week as was originally thought.

On today's show [August 9], the presenter confirmed live on air that he will carry on filling in for Piers Morgan at least until the end of next week.

And to mark the extension of his contract, he revealed he might sign up to Twitter – much to the shock of viewers.

The talk show host regularly slates social media on The Jeremy Kyle Show and has never set up an official Facebook or Twitter account.

But after spending some time with the cast and crew on Good Morning Britain, where the presenters in particular check their news feeds in between every ad break, Jeremy has had a change of heart.

"I might join Twitter," he said, prompting his co-host Kate Garraway to encourage him to do it straight away live on air.

But he hit back: "No, not yet. I'll do it when I come back next week. I'm coming back next week by the way – you didn't know that did you!"

While Piers is off for his annual summer break, ITV has hired Jeremy to step in on the GMB sofa, along with Eamonn Holmes and Richard Madeley.

Both Jeremy and Eamonn have presented Good Morning Britain before, but Richard has never filled in for Piers.

If he's nervous about the job though, the former This Morning presenter certainly isn't showing any signs of it.

He explained: "I've known Piers for 30 years, so sitting in for him on GMB is an excellent opportunity to gather some inside information on him which I will unhesitatingly use to wind him up afterwards."

Meanwhile, Kate will continue to fill in for Susanna Reid until both presenters return.
