That's right, your favourite sparkling wine has taken on an entirely new hue in its latest iteration, which is bound to excite some people, while causing others to throw their hands up in horror.

Blumond, which is made from a combination of Prosecco, blue curaçao and peach, is already on sale in China and America, where it's popular at weddings, according to The Drinks Business.

"Nothing says summer better than a glass of Blumond on your favourite beach" says the brand's marketing material, which describes the drink as "cool and fashionable."

Wladimiro Gobbo, a member of Italy's Sommelier Association dubbed Blumond "an insult to our wine tradition".

"It's embarrassing" he continued. "These are not wines but coloured liquids, dumb-downed hybrids with a watered-down percentage of alcohol."

However, the company behind Blumond, Fratelli Saraceni obviously has high hopes for the wine, and is in talks with retailers to sell it in the UK.

We have reached out to the company for comment and confirmation of when it will be available.
