As December arrives thoughts will begin to turn to the most luxurious meal of the year - Christmas dinner.

You may have been dreaming about pigs in blankets all year long but we are now in the final run in to meal time on Christmas Day and it is time to talk tactics.

Whether you are cooking yourself or visiting friends or family, the sheer variety of food served at the traditional Christmas dinner can often be a one of the more expensive outgoings in the festive season but there is a way to keep the cost of Christmas down.

With a bit of bargain-hunting we have found a way to get a full Christmas meal for four complete with turkey and stuffing, pigs in blankets, a medley of vegetables and a Christmas pudding for just £20.

But that is not all. Included in that price is enough food for a second buffet-style meal so that you are suitably stuffed all day. It includes a 70-piece buffet platter, vegetable spring rolls, filo prawns, mozzarella sticks, Pringles and even some Coca-Cola Zero to wash it all down.

We managed to get all of that food for £20 - or £20.25 to be exact - using a simple deal-stacking technique favoured by bargain-hunters online.

The food all comes from Iceland's website and stacks deals including the £15 party bundle offer that includes two platters, three sides, Pringles and Coca Cola.

We also used Iceland's five for £4 deal on vegetables, picking up carrots, floret and carrot mix, garden peas and brocolli.

Throw in some Yorkshire puddings for 75p, reduced from £1, luxury Cumberland Chipolatas wrapped in bacon for £3, roast potatoes in beef dripping for £1.50, Christmas pudding for £1 and the all-important Turkey crown with stuffing for £10 and the entire Christmas shopping bag comes to £35.25.

Now for the big bargain. Deals website Topcashback is offering all new customers £15 off their first Iceland shop as long as you spend over £35.

To get that deal just sign up here and follow the instructions. Head to Iceland and complete the shop using the store's best deals to take the value over £35. Make your order and Topcashback will send you £15 in cashback within seven days, bringing the total cost down to £20.25.
