A while back, Marmite launched a peanut butter and 50% of the nation squealed with delight and 50% scrolled right past the news on Twitter.

Marmite’s crunchy peanut butter was the first time the iconic brand had made a major change to its recipe since 1902. But what if you love Marmite and love peanut butter but only the smooth kind? That leaves you in quite a pickle.

(Wait… would a Marmite and Branston pickle mash-up be amazing or terrible? We’ll come back to that at a later date.

Luckily for fans of peanut butter with no lumps and bumps, Marmite smooth peanut butter has been invented.

Yesterday, Morrisons started selling the 225g jars of the stuff for £2.50. And other UK supermarkets will have Marmite’s smooth peanut butter on their shelves from February.

Marmite is keen to know which peanut butter you prefer, so be sure to head over to the brand’s Twitter to have your say.

Speaking about the new spread, Rachel Chambers, marketing manager at Marmite, said. “The response to Marmite Peanut Butter Crunchy was astounding.

“We’re thrilled to offer a smooth option to satisfy consumers looking for a smoother texture on their toast.”

If you prefer your peanut butter with less of a Marmite afterburn to it, maybe Reese’s peanut butter Easter egg would be a more palatable option for you?
