Rapist police officer sentenced to life with minimum 30 years
Serial rapist and former Metropolitan Police officer David Carrick has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 30 years and 239 days. Carrick was sentenced for 49 offences against a dozen women, including 24 counts of rape, and charges of sexual assault, controlling and coercive behaviour, and false imprisonment. The Met was forced to apologise and admit Carrick should have been rooted out of the force earlier after it emerged he came to police attention over nine incidents - including rape allegations, domestic violence and harassment - between 2000 and 2021.
