In need of a pick-me-up? Me too. Well, check this out! A brand-new restaurant launched by David Lloyd Clubs in conjunction with chef and mental health expert Andrew Clarke, known as Good Plates, is opening later this month and has been specifically designed to boost mental wellbeing. Pretty amazing, right?

The lighting, decor, music, communal seating layout and even the sharing menu, which is stacked with six seasonal mood-boosting brain foods, might I add, has all been designed to give you the pick-me-up you need and essentially improve your wellbeing.

Yep, a whole lot of thought has been put into this pop-up and we love the idea of it.

Expect an interactive dining experience that provides a completely new and engaging way to learn about how food, surroundings and social interactions can complement wellbeing when introduced into daily life. It's quite frankly a beautiful concept!

The mood-boosting restaurant will be open for two days later this month on the 22 and 23 January. And if you're keen to check it out, you can purchase tickets for £10. The tickets include six dishes plus up to three non-alcoholic cocktails each. Not to mention, all of the money generated through bookings will be going to mental health charity, Mind.

A spokesperson for David Lloyd Clubs said: “The Good Plates restaurant is not an attempt to be a cure or quick-fix for mental health difficulties, but instead simply be a warm and welcoming place where people can learn in an interactive way how certain foods, surroundings and conversations can complement positive mental wellbeing when they form part of everyday life.

“Inside, the aim is to give guests a positive experience and hopefully they will feel that they have benefitted in some small way from their time at the restaurant. But we also hope guests leave having taken on board some of the thinking behind The Good Plates and introduce this into their day-to-day lives.”

The Good Plates menu includes:

  • Wood roasted monkfish, chickpeas and walnut gremolata
  • Chargrilled venison, spent coffee, blueberries, roast salsify, trompette mushrooms and mint
  • Cauliflower, almond miso, black beluga lentils and curry butter
  • Halibut tranche, seaweed butter, winter tomatoes and white beans
  • Wild mushroom and kale toban, sprouting broccoli, sunflower seed puree, poached egg and black truffle
  • Roast salmon, herb labneh, poached cucumber, beach herbs and salmon roe
