An 82-year-old McDonald's worker has been described as 'an influencer and an inspiration' - as she celebrates 30 years' service. Florence 'Floss' Milner has been a favourite face at the fast food chain since 1992, and the spritely octogenarian is showing no signs of slowing down.

When she isn't working, she can often "be found at the local bingo club with a pint". Staff says she's a "real hit" with the customers at the Middlesbrough Leisure Park restaurant, where she works. Floss started at Maccy's as a customer care assistant in June of 1992 at the age of 52.

Covid restrictions meant she had a low-key 80th birthday and wasn't able to celebrate with co-workers. When her 30 years milestone rolled around, franchisee Dean Fitzmaurice and the team were determined to make up for it.

Melissa Fitzmaurice, people manager at the restaurant, said: "Floss is a real hit with the customers, they often say to me how full of personality she is. Customers always come say that Floss brightened their day by making them laugh."

One of Florence’s co-workers, Jamie Wood, added: “As we go through life, we often meet unique individuals. Some inspire us some influence us and some teach us. Floss is a version of all of these, an influencer, a teacher, and an inspiration.”

Florence told us on her thirty-year anniversary at McDonald’s: “I can’t believe how quickly time flies by, it seems like yesterday I started my time at McDonald’s. It was very sweet that my colleagues came together to celebrate my time at McDonald’s, I was very touched. I love working with everyone here, we have a lot of fun and its great getting to see familiar faces each day.”
