At 26 and as the youngest billionaire in the UK he is one of the world’s most eligible bachelors.

But now the new Duke of Westminster, Hugh Grosvenor, is set to break millions of hearts after he was pictured arm in arm with his girlfriend Harriet Tomlinson.

Hugh, who inherited £9.3billion nine months ago when his dad Gerald, the sixth Duke, of Westminster suddenly died, is seen in photos smiling happily with Harriet during a romantic break abroad.

A source close to the new duke – reportedly the richest man in the world who is under 30 – said: “Hugh and Harriet are blissfully happy.

“They have a lot of shared interests and are both very down to earth and family orientated.

“She’s a really lovely girl and very much the love of his life.”

So what’s a girl got to do to pull a guy who is described as “absurdly, preposterously rich” and who is godfather to Prince William and Kate’s three-year-old son Prince George?

Well, a good start is going to the same school.

And of course, it helps to pay the £6,000-a-term school fees if mummy and daddy have got a bit of cash.

Harriet’s dad Grahame, 81, owned a curtain factory and she was brought up alongside her younger sister Grace, 23, in Chester near the duke’s 11,000-acre family estate, Eaton Hall.

It’s also useful to have a high-flying job.

Although she graduated from the University of Wales with a teaching degree, Harriet is now a consultant on the estate agency desk at recruitment firm Deverell Smith in the City of London.

She landed this job nearly two years ago after a stint as a venue finder for an events company.

According to her CV: “This role involved a lot of client relationship building.”

The CV went on: “This in turn gave her a very good understanding of the geographical area.

“This, along with huge enthusiasm for working with people, led Harriet to become interested in property and recruitment.”

And outside the day job, you can’t go wrong by being sporty.

According to her web profile the slim brunette is a keen runner.

The pair stayed at the exclusive Ventana resort on the Big Sur coast, renowned for its views over the Pacific Ocean.

The adults-only retreat includes 59 rooms and suites spread over 243 acres of secluded woodland and offers luxurious spa treatments and private dining.

The couple were able to relax and enjoy each other’s company in tranquil surroundings more than 5,000 miles away from home.

Hugh hired a bright yellow Ford Mustang convertible to show Harriet the sights.

Pictures later emerged of him drinking and fooling around with pals with a blow-up doll, leading to reports he could be at risk of squandering his inheritance.

But our source says his party boy image was incorrect.

The source added: “Hugh likes to enjoy himself as much as anyone else and is far from a bore. But he is happiest when he is enjoying time with Harriet and their close circle.

“He was left crushed when his father died but Harriet has been a huge support and is helping him to get used to his new responsibilities.

“They’re a lovely couple and deserve all the happiness in the world.”

Hugh, an accounts manager at a green energy firm, became the world’s most eligible bachelor when his dad died from a heart attack at the age of 64 on his Abbeystead estate in Lancashire.

Asked about Harriet’s relationship, her sister Grace declined to comment.

A spokesman for the duke’s Grosvenor Estate did not respond.

A gardener at the Tomlinsons’ family home in Chester said Harriet’s parents were on a two-week holiday.
