Louise Minchin suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction live on BBC Breakfast this morning.

Looking flustered, the presenter made an awkward start to the week and apologised to her co-star Dan Walker for 'throwing him' just seconds before they went live.

As the show went live the mum-of-two, who lives near Chester, looked down and suddenly noticed that she had put her beautiful floral frock on the wrong way round, the Mirror reports.

Dan asked a giggling Louise: "It's actually so dark when we got here, do you want to reveal your secret live...?"

She said: "I want to admit the fact that I've actually got my dress on back to front!"

"I'm sorry but I nearly threw Dan - you're quite difficult to throw, but I just suddenly looked down and thought, 'Ooh, my dress is on back to front' with ten seconds to go. Apologies for that!"

Dan added: "Yeah, just before we started, 'I think my dress is on back to front'."

Their sports presenter Sally Nugent chimed in to say viewers wouldn't even have picked up on it if the pair had kept Lou's wardrobe fail to themselves.

"Would anyone have actually known that? You could have totally got away with that," she pointed out.

"It just gave me a fright, that was all," Louise explained.

"It's the sequel to The Wrong Trousers," joked Dan.

"'The Back-To-Front Dress'!" exclaimed Louise through her laughter.

Luckily, Lou was able to slip off the famous red sofa and quickly switch her dress around when the local news feeds took over for a few minutes just before 6.30am.

But she took to Twitter to update her fans on the fail, telling them never to get dressed in the dark.

It's not the first time the dreaded wardrobe malfunction curse has hit breakfast TV - back in 2014, Good Morning Britain host Susanna Reid had to rush out of the studio when her dress split, running awkwardly off-camera to get it fixed.

And over in Australia, Network Ten host Natarsha Belling hit the headlines in 2015 after wearing a green jacket with an unfortunately shaped neckline .
