This is what goes in a 'posh' Christmas stocking, apparently

But it's safe to say we never thought tucking into all those chocolate coins and clementines made us 'posh'.

Until now that is, because society bible Tatler has released a tongue-in-cheek guide to what you'll find in a 'posh' stocking – and it turns out we're practically royalty...

'Christmas stockings are practical affairs, predominantly full of stuff you would have bought for yourself anyway,' they say in the article, titled 'What you'll find in a posh stocking'.

They continue: 'The teenage-upwards recipients of posh stockings might expect something along these lines', before listing out the bits and bobs you'll encounter in upper crust stockings for grown-ups.

So, if you usually find the following in your stocking on Christmas morning, then you're officially 'posh' in our eyes...

  • Bathroom loot (i.e. nail polish remover, a bar of soap etc)
  • Pairs of socks/tights
  • Packets of knickers from M&S
  • Chutney
  • Gentleman's Relish (an anchovy paste)
  • Emma Bridgewater mug
  • Oven mitt shaped like a lobster or a crocodile
  • A tiny cushiony ornament shaped like a dog on a ribbon
  • Chocolate coins
  • A pack of cards
  • Pack of fake moustaches
  • A clementine

So, tell us, how 'posh' are your Christmas stockings? Let us know on Facebook.
