Weight Watchers is scrapping before and after photos - but there's a very good reason why

Before and after photos are an extremely powerful tool when it comes to weightloss.

They offer inspiration and prove that it is possible to achieve your goals even when it feels like you're never going to make it.

But Weight Watchers has announced it's taking the dramatic step to scrap the famous pictures.

They believe transformation photos promote the idea of a short-term diet that has an end date.

However going forward they want to promote long-term change and a lifestyle change which can last forever.

The announcement was made at the company's international conference.

The company's head of social media, Lauren Salazar, said: "We've made the decision to lose the expression 'before and after' because our members' journeys are so much more about then than now.

"A journey of health, with no beginning, middle or end."

A spokesperson for Weight Watchers told Mirror Online: "We've made the decision to lose the expression 'before and after', because our members' journeys are so much more about then and now.

"We want to promote a journey of health, with no beginning, middle or end.

"We're not going to discourage a member who wants to show where they are today versus where they started, but when they're talking about their journey, we want to celebrate all their moments.

"As a brand we want to be your partner no matter at what point you are."

Weight Watchers is a popular dieting programme followed by thousands of people across the world.

Foods are given points based on nutritional value, and members must stick within a daily limit of how many points they can consume.
