The rain didn’t put Kate, 37, off from wearing the repeat Barbara Casasola number, first seen in 2016 for the Art Fund awards.

Kate has been patron of Action on Addiction since January 2012, a charity which helps people with a range of addictions at its treatment centres and community programmes.

Before the dinner, the duchess met with Action on Addiction clients who are working as apprentices in the kitchen, and who worked with Spring Restaurant’s head chef and owner Skye Gyngell to create the evening’s meal.

Yesterday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited Cumbria in North West England, to celebrate the resilience and spirit of rural and farming communities in the region.

Kate and William met locals in Keswick before visiting a farm, where they tried their hand at sheep-shearing.
