From lace-up Victoriana styles to platforms and Western silhouettes, this season there's a boot style to suit every taste and temperament.

That said, there's a new-season newcomer that's very quickly shot to the top of the style stakes, and that's the knee-high.

From the slouchy 70s styles offered by Gianvito Rossi and Aquazurra, to the structured stiletto styles from Gabriela Hearst and Jimmy Choo, the knee-high is as varied in design as it is in ways you can wear it.

They look great paired with A-line mini dresses or with oversized blazers and jeans tucked in, but to limit your new booties as such would be doing them a disservice.

Read on for four fresh ways to style the trend.

While the temptation is to rock a pair of knee-high boots with a flirty mini dress, their power with serious suiting should not be overlooked. Pair black croc with grey marls and white with taupe tailoring for a boardroom look the street style set would approve of.

With short shorts

While last season's over-the-knee boots were tricky to pair with micro minis and short shorts - still look chic, the looser fit of a pair of knee-highs makes them excellent friends of the thigh-flasher. Pair with hot pants and an oversized jumper or shirt for a look that oozes Beyoncé levels of bad-assery.

With a floor-skimming coat

Floor-skimming, ankle-swooshing winter coats are big on the sartorial agenda this winter. Add a clutch bag and a pair of stiletto knee-high boots for a look that's powerful and polished.

One of the easier ways to approach the knee-dusting boot trend is to pair them with the summer's midi. Pair chunky, slouchier boot styles with floral dresses layered over a polo neck and your oversized blazer for daytime, and heeled mock croc with thigh-splits for the evening.
