There’s nothing more annoying than going to your beauty bag and discovering that one of your most-loved makeup products has been ruined.

Whether it’s a lipstick that’s been broken in half or setting powder that’s been crushed to smithereens, it’s one of the easiest ways to skyrocket our blood pressure.

Now granted, both products can be easily salvaged, if you know how to do it, but up until new, we assumed that dried up mascara is only fit for the bin.

We’ve found the easiest way to bring dried-up mascara back to life

So you can imagine our excitement when we discovered that mascara that’s had too much air time could be fixed with eye drops.

It’s the most blatantly obvious beauty hack we’ve ever heard of, but it’s so simple we’ve managed to overlook it all these years.

Irritated Eyes Eye Drops, £4.99, Boots Pic: Boots

Once you start to notice the mascara going clumpy, or not spreading properly, you just add a few drops of eye ointment to the mascara tube (2-3 drops will do), then use the brush to mix up the formula. It will be good as new.

After a quick stir-up, your mascara will be as good as new. You can buy a bottle of eye drops in Boots for £4.99.

If you don’t have eye drops to hand and need to make your mascara more spreadable, you can also stick the mascara tube in a cup of warm water.

The heat will help melt the formula, so it’s easier to work with. Brilliant or what?
