Bride reveals why she wears her wedding dress for every anniversary 14/02/2017 Claire Murrihy

For many brides, once the wedding day is over, the dress is put in a giant box or hung in the spare room, never to be heard of again.

Which, when you think about it, is a colossal waste of money – not to mention hours of painstaking dressmaking craftsmanship!

That’s why we’re loving Samantha Burns’ vow to wear her wedding dress once a year on her wedding anniversary.

Burns married her husband on August 10th, 2014 and, desperate to wear her beautiful gown more than once, decided she would wear it every year on her anniversary.

So far, she has worn it to play golf, eat pancakes and take a sunset cruise.

The Boston-based mental health advisor told Today: ‘Nothing would say ‘happy anniversary’ better than an African safari trip in my dress for a milestone anniversary!’

This is my favorite photo taken while filming with @InsideEdition for the story about my anniversary tradition. We had just busted out an impromptu swing dance while singing Cotton-eyed Joe on the pumpkin wagon 🎃! To catch the whole video clip (unfortunately our little dance party scene was cut) Google "Inside Edition Dress Again" and it should pop! . . . #lovesuccessfully #marriageadvice #loveadvice #marriagegoals #weddinganniversary #igcouples #couplesofinstagram #relationshipgoals #weddinggoals #couplestherapy #weddinggoals #weddinggown #mrandmrs #husbandandwife #wifelife #hubbywifey #happilyeverafter #insideedite #brides #bridesmagazine #engagedcouple #marriedlife #tvstar #belkinfamilyfarm #couplesofig #HuffPostIDo

She admitted that her husband thought she was joking when she informed him that she loved her dress so much that she’d be wearing it on their future anniversaries.

But she has stuck with it and even though it has gotten slightly damaged in the process, Burns insists that she’d rather enjoy her dress than keep it locked away.

She wrote in Brides magazine: ‘It’s collected some stains on the bottom, but I much prefer this than keeping it in a pristine box that will never see the light of day.’

Woohoo, my article was featured in @brides on Tuesday and was their most popular post for the day! If you haven't read it, Google "Samantha Burns Brides" or it's called "Why This Bride Wears Her Wedding Dress Every Year." I've been getting really awesome comments on FB inspiring former brides all over the country to do the same! . . . #brides #lovesuccessfully #weddinganniversary #weddingdress #couplesgoals #igcouples #couplesofinstagram #relationshipgoals #anniversary #anniversaryweekendgetaway #anniversaryweekend #weddinggowns #mrandmrs #traditions #wifegoals #wifestyle #wifeyforlifey #wifeforlife #wifepoints #marriageadvice #couplestherapy #bride👰 #formerbride #weddingday #bridesmagazine #bridesmag
