Three new takeaways could be set to open in the Potteries. Plans have been put forward for the separate ventures in Longton and Middleport.

The scheme on Middleport's Newcastle Street would see a former officer convert. And two other eateries could be created at in the ground floor of a vacant business premises in Uttoxeter Road, Longton. A one-bedroom flat and upper floor extension are also proposed at this site.

Plans for the takeaways will now be considered by planners at Stoke-on-Trent City Council. A planning statement submitted as part of the Newcastle Street proposal stated that the scheme would enable existing takeaway Mac Flames to relocate.

It added: “The business relocation is due to expansion and for the business owners to obtain ownership of their own premises due to the current lease coming to an end. The existing business has had a successful long standing within the local area and caters to supply hot food to the locals. The majority of their customer base is local residents who travel to the premises by foot which will continue at the new premises.

“As the business does offer a delivery service this will also continue and a staff parking space has been provided to the rear of the premises including an extra space for staff working internally too. Taking on these new premises will not only allow the much needed internal space requirements for the business but also allow the food outlet to expand their business as per local demand.”
