A special message from MSN:

While Christmas is a time of joy for most of us, that's not the case for the UK's most vulnerable children and young people. We've partnered with giving platform Benevity to raise funds for two charities - the NSPCC and The Children's Society – to try to help change that. A house in one of Brisbane's in demand suburbs has hit the market for the first time in nearly a century and could fetch millions.

The Queenslander style house on a large block at 67 Vardon Street in Wilston, a trendy suburb in Brisbane's inner north, is going up for auction this Saturday at 1pm.

The run down timber house may be a renovators dream as it has remained almost untouched since being built in 1926 and even has newspapers from that year stuck to the floor in one room, according to realestate.com.au.

Place Newmarket agent Mario Sultana told realestate.com.au that the house was like a time capsule with nothing changed since it was built.

The Brisbane Courier newspapers from October 4 and October 6 that year contain stories about timber prices, a civil court dispute about droving sheep, and an ad for a luxury car selling for 265 pounds.

Mr Sultana said the block next door was sold a few years ago and a successful renovation had been done.

'The people who bought that block did a full renovation of the house on that land and I sold it for them for $1.975 million back in 2016. But that house was very different to this one,' Mr Sultana said.

'This house needs a lot of attention and there is one room where you can see there has been white ant activity but that can be fixed, and the joists and bearers are in good shape.'

The listing for the property says there is 'tremendous scope for renovation and expansion both upstairs and downstairs' and that 'this is your opportunity to buy a beautiful piece of land with the worst house in the street.'

The agent says he is unsure what to expect at the auction with no similar properties to compare the house to.
