A former maid's broom cupboard has gone on the market in London for more than £200,000.

The 10 metre-squared property has one main room with just enough space for a collapsible double bed.

There is also a kitchenette opposite a small bathroom.

The "small but perfectly formed" second-floor flat is described by Hogarth Architects as "quirky" and "one of the most functional and stylish apartments in central London".

And the property, in Earls Court, has been listed for a staggering £225,000 despite its former status as a maid's storage cupboard.

In August, a 30 square-metre house in Cambridge described as a "rabbit hutch" went on sale for £300,000 - which is almost £10,000 per square-metre.

The property , one of Cambridge's smallest homes, was dubbed a "posh brick shed" after a post about it went on Facebook.

The price per square-metre matches the average for properties in London's fashionable Mayfair and Soho districts, where properties sell at an average of £1,104 per square foot.
