Brexit talks go down to the wire with weeks to go, but ‘UK not ready to negotiate’

As the Brexit transition period is closing in, talks between the United Kingdom and the European Union are still stalled, with fishing rights and rules on competition remaining as the main sticking points. If no deal is reached by the end of December, border checks and taxes will be implemented for all goods travelling between the UK and the EU. Brussels insists London has to decide on which relationship they should have, but the UK “is not ready to negotiate”, Catherine Coron, an associate professor on British economics at the Paris 2 University, says.
