UK coronavirus LIVE: Nicola Sturgeon sets out Scotland’s lockdown exit with return to levels as Gove to review ‘vaccine passports’
Boris Johnson revealed he has tasked Michael Gove with leading a review into the possible use of “vaccine passports” and that “there’s no question” that a lot of countries would likely require some form of the “Covid status” certificates.
The Prime Minister told Sky News: “And [countries] will be insisting on vaccine passports in the same way that people used to insist on evidence that you’ve been inoculated against yellow fever. So it’s going to come on the international stage whatever.”
Meanwhile Health Secretary Matt Hancock has said that he hopes Brits will be able to hug friends and family from May 17, as part of the Government’s roadmap out of lockdown.
It comes as Nicola Sturgeon announced Scotland will return to a regional levels system from the last week in April if virus suppression continues.
