Three people taken to hospital after robbers armed with shotgun and machete raid Moss Side cafe

Three people were taken to hospital after robbers armed with a shotgun, baseball bat and a machete raided a Moss Side cafe and forced customers to hand over their car keys.

Detectives say three men burst into the Princess Road cafe at about 10.30am on Saturday.

They threatened customers and demanded they hand over their car keys and 'personal belongings' before fleeing in a white Range Rover belonging to one of the victims and a white BMW 3 Series.

Three customers - all aged in their 20s - were taken to hospital.

Their injuries are not thought to be serious.

Shortly after the robbery the stolen Range Rover on Bowland Drive in Fallowfield.

Four men aged 18, 19, 23 and 58 and two teenagers, both aged 17, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They remain in custody for questioning.

Enquiries are ongoing.

Supt Mark Dexter, said: “Thankfully no one was seriously injured, but the victims have been left understandably shaken following this incident.

“It is thanks to the swift action of our officers that we now have six men in custody, but this investigation is still very much ongoing and officers will be in the area today continuing with enquiries.

“If you saw anything suspicious, or if you know anything which could help us with this investigation, then please get in touch with police as soon as you can.

“We are particularly keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or anyone with dashcam footage of the BMW or Range Rover around the time of the incident.”
