A New Yorker’s big marriage proposal went to the dogs — and his fiancee couldn’t be happier.

Maurice Goldstein had been ready to pop the question to his girlfriend of four years, Laura Stampler, but wanted to do it in an unexpected way. So during a Thanksgiving trip to Los Angeles he asked her to join him in a hike of Runyon Canyon.

But instead of a case of poison ivy or leg cramps, Stampler was floored when her beau proposed marriage amid a floor of rose petals — and 16 pooches.

“When we were kissing, all of a sudden all of these dogs were unleashed and started running towards me,” Stampler told CBS News. “I saw the rose petals and I see a group of figures and it’s just like, all of a sudden … you know?” And I just started hyperventilating and crying.”

But the canines weren’t the only ones in attendance at the joyous celebration. Goldstein also booked an a capella group to sing Disney classics and Motown golden oldies as he got down on one knee.

Stampler, who says she’s a big dog lover, “flipped out” at the sight of the pups and says they distracted her from even donning her engagement ring.

Goldstein was able to borrow the dogs from family friend Tony Vercillo, a self-proclaimed “dog whisperer” who runs regularly in the California mountains with a group of canines he tends to for work.

“I personally don’t know how you can top puppies,” swooned Stampler. “For me, personally, this was beyond perfect — just having someone who knows you well enough to make you happy.”
