Mysterious 'science-fiction' monolith vanishes from Utah desert
A mysterious shiny metal monolith discovered in the Utah desert mid-November has disappeared, leaving authorities and Internet sleuths little the wiser as to its purpose or origins. Some suggest the monolith, which appeared to have been manmade, was the work of John McCracken, an artist inspired by science fiction who died in 2011.
