We finally have our first look at the most anticipated gaming release of 2018 - and it looks wild.

The third entry in the much-acclaimed Red Dead series from Rockstar is a prequel to the much-lauded Red Dead Redemption released back in 2010.

a statue of a man riding a horse: Red Dead Redemption 2 © Provided by Trinity Mirror Shared Services Limited Red Dead Redemption 2 The new title follows the story of Arthur Morgan, an outlaw who is a member of the Dutch Van der Linde gang in 1889, the waning days of the American Old West and the extinction of outlaws and gunslingers.

Also returning are the characters John Marston and villainous Dutch Van der Linde.

The game will operate on the same Honour system as its predecessor with interactions with non-playable characters affecting the protagonist Morgan's journey through the story.

Forbes has already predicted that the game sales will negatively impact all competitors in the fourth quarter of the year.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is released on October 26, 2018.
